Our Story

Three Leopold is an ode to the yesteryears of Australian beach shack culture. It is the nostalgia of long days spent in the sun, faded beach towels hanging on the veranda, sandy floorboards, sunkissed skin and new nose freckles, the sweet smell of frangipani and overripe mango in the humid morning air, the chorus sound of cicadas. 

Inspired by our family beach shack my grandfather built with his hands in the 60's, Three Leopold is a nod to simpler times - when life felt less complicated, less crowded, and more slower, lighter and beautifully carefree.

Each summer holiday our family made the three day drive from South Australia to the New South Wales coast - a yearly pilgrimage etched into memory. Days were spent snorkelling in rock pools, exploring the cliffs, and eating banana sandwiches on the veranda after morning swims in the surf. It was a childhood steeped in salt water and sunlight - a privilege to have known such simple joys that shaped who I am and what I value most in this life.

I still remember the sting of tears as the end of summer holidays drew near - packing our bags and driving down the old dirt road for the last time. I would wind the windows down, close my eyes and try and hold onto the the hum of cicadas and the salty sweetness lingering in the air. It was within those humble fibro walls, I learned what contentment truly feels like. Like my dad before me, my most cherished childhood memories were here. 

I carry with me an immense sense of gratitude for my grandparents, who worked tirelessly to create a place, and a legacy, that continues to bring warmth, connection, and meaning to our family across generations. Just as my dad once shared these moments with me as a child, I now look forward to sharing them with my own son, passing on the same sun-drenched memories that shaped us both.
